Culture-packed Innere Stadt hotels

1st district or Innere Stadt is the cultural center of Vienna and its historical core. Until the second half of the 19th century, this area was brimmed by the wall, and the rest of the neighborhoods used to be its suburbs. The boundaries of the central district can be easily seen on a map of Vienna — it is surrounded on one side by the Donaukanal (Franz Josef embankment), on the other — by the Ringstrasse. All major attractions like Town Hall, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Burgtheater, Ringstrasse are housed in the 1st district. Foreigners love the Innere Stadt hotels not only for their history but also for shopping in the Goldenes Quartier, where international designer stores are located.
